1. Set up Tub and Heater Coil: Find a level spot for the tub and where you can safely make a fire. Ensure fire is downwind of the tub to prevent sparks from blowing onto tub and cover. Be sure to follow fire safety rules and restrictions of the location.

  2. Connect Hoses:

    • Lower hose - connects lower coil to lower tub connector

    • Upper hose - connects upper coil to upper tub connector

    • Ensure all camlocks are fully connected

  3. Fill the Hot Tub: Fill with clean water using a hose or buckets until the water level is above the the upper hot water outflow.

  4. Build and Ignite the Fire:

    • CAUTION - The water hose valve must always be open while there is a fire burning

    • Place a few peices of kindling and/or a firestarter inside the bottom of the heating coil.

    • Add a generous amount of dry kindling in a crisscross arrangement to allow air circulation.

    • Light it

    • Only build a fire on the inside of the coil - do not build a fire on the outer side

  5. Add Larger Firewood: Once the kindling has caught and the fire is burning, add progressively larger peices of firewood. Keep firewood vertical inside the coil to fit in the most wood for the most heat. Keep the fire stoked up.

  6. Stir the Water Frequently with the paddle throughout heating process to circulate the top and bottom water temps. You can leave the cover on the tub while heating to help heat faster.

  7. Monitor the Temperature: The ideal spa temp is between 100°F and 104°F (38°C to 40°C).

  8. Slow the Burn: When the water is close to your desired temp (around 95°F), stop adding firewood, allowing the hot coals to maintain the heat.

  9. Enjoy and Maintain Heat: Enjoy your soak!

    • WARNING! Keep your body safely away from the upper hot water outflow

    • Adjustments to the temp will happen gradually, usually taking 10-15 minutes, depending on the ambient temperature. This provides plenty of time to react if the water starts to become too hot or too cold. Typically, once your hot tub reaches the desired temperature, it requires minimal wood to sustain the heat.

    • Do not block either of the water tube outlets at any time.

  10. End a Session:

    • Ensure the fire dies down completely

    • Then, if necessary, fully extinguish coals with some water

    • Place the cover over the tub

  11. When Not in Use - Monitor Water Temperature: To prevent freezing while avoiding overheating.

  12. Temps drop below Freezing: Heater coil must be disconnected from the tub and drained out between uses to avoid water freezing in the hoses and coil.

    • If keeping water in the tub

      • Close the flow valve on both connectors

      • Immediately disconnect the hoses from the valve connectors and heater coil

      • Tip over the coil and hoses to drain water out

      • Reconnect only when ready to start a fire for another session. Open both flow valves once fully connected, before starting the fire

  13. Drain tub: If done using, please disconnect and drain all water out before pickup
